Company History

First Metro Asset Management, Inc. (FAMI) was established in 2005 by First Metro Investment Corporation in partnership with Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) and Marist Brothers Foundation.The objective was to promote investments to schools, educators and religious institutions, to develop innovative investment products and advocate investment literacy among Filipinos.

Today, FAMI is recognized as one of the leading asset management companies that offers a wide range of outstanding mutual fund products in the country.  It managed eight (8) peso-denominated mutual funds, one dollar-denominated mutual funds, and was the fund manager of the first and only ETF in the country.

In December 2024, 70% of First Metro Asset Management Inc. (FAMI) was acquired by ATR Financial Holdings, Inc. (ATR Financial). FAMI was renamed ATR Financial Advisors & Managers Inc. (ATR FAMI).

ATR Financial is owned by a consortium of investors and management partners led by its Chairman, Manuel N. Tordesillas.  Mr. Tordesillas is also Chairman and co-founder of ATRAM Trust Corp. and Chairman of ATR Financial Holdings and MET Holdings Inc.  Mr. Tordesillas was President of the Investment House Association of the Philippines for 7 years.  He served as a key figure in Philippine investment banking, having led several investment banks such as Maybank Kim Eng Investment Bank, ATR Kim Eng Capital Partners Inc., Citicorp Investment Bank and Peregrine Capital Limited over his illustrious career.  

Karen Liza M. Roa is shareholder of ATR Financial and was has been  President of ATR FAMI since 2018. 

Through the entry of ATR Financial, ATR FAMI will focus on providing financial advice to mid-size corporate and institutional clients in customizing and managing their investment portfolios.

Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) is a nationwide network of private Catholic educational institutions in the Philippines founded in 1941. It now has more than 1,525 member-schools and more than 120 superintendents of Catholic Schools. It is a voluntary organization which operates through regional educational associations located in the 17 regions of the country.

Marist Brothers Congregation Philippines, Inc. is an international Catholic religious congregation with around 5,000 members in more than 70 countries.
